MEADS System Achieves Full Certification For Identifying Friend Or Foe Aircraft

The Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) Mode 5 Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) subsystem has received full certification for operation by the U.S. Department of Defense,  prime contractor MEADS International said. The system is designed to ensure the safety of allied aircrews engaged in combat operations, MEADS International said in a statement. MEADS International is a multinational joint venture headquartered in Orlando, Fla. Major subcontractors and joint venture partners are MBDA in Italy and Germany, and Lockheed Martin [LMT]…
