The new gun system to be installed on the ships NAVY chiefs have ordered guns costing £183million for their new frigates – despite having set no date for work to start on the ships. The eight Type 26 frigates – known as Global Combat Ships – are scheduled to be built at BAE’s Clyde yards. Work was due to begin this year but last month the MoD were forced to admit that they were no nearer setting a start date.
