The Department of Homeland Security, Science and Technology Directorate, Chemical Security Analysis Center, has issued a Sources Sought notice for a well defined, relevant set of metrics capable of guiding the implementation of Inherently Safer Technology (IST) and evaluating the results in the modification of hazardous chemical processes. The primary goal will be to improve security through improved safety and the focus will be on the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards Appendix A chemicals. Metrics will help quantify the differences between alternate chemical processes.
