Senate Panel Approves Public Safety Telecom Bill

The Senate Commerce Committee yesterday approved a bill aimed at building a nationwide, interoperable, wireless broadband network for public safety use. The Public Safety Spectrum and Wireless Innovation Act (S. 911) permits the voluntary reallocation of D Block communication spectrum by broadcasters and other spectrum licensees to be used for a nationwide public safety telecommunications network.
