Pratt & Whitney Honors Six ‘Distinguished Engineers’

EAST HARTFORD, Conn., Feb. 22, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — The Hartford Section of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers honored six Pratt & Whitney employees as 2019 Distinguished Engineers of the Year yesterday, as part of National Engineers Week celebrations.

Honored at the ASME Engineers of the Year Awards on February 21, 2019 were (l-r) Pratt & Whitney’s Lisa Brasche; Brad Sammann; Jim Becker; Bill Lamberti (VP Engineering Chris Kmetz holding his award); Meggan Harris; and Sean McCutchan.

To promote excellence in the field of engineering, the ASME Hartford Section honored Jim Becker, Lisa Brasche, Meggan Harris, Bill Lamberti, Sean McCutchan and Brad Sammann, for their exemplary performance.

“We had many strong contenders for our Engineers of the Year, and these six individuals stood out for accomplishments that had a direct positive impact on the business,” said Geoff Hunt, senior vice president of Engineering. “They are examples of what it truly means to Go Beyond for our customers.”

Pratt & Whitney 2019 Distinguished Engineers of the Year:

Jim Becker, Component Integrated Product Team leader of adaptive exhaust systems for Hot Section Engineering, showed persistence and determination to secure funding, which led to a successful risk reduction test for adaptive engine programs.

Lisa Brasche, associate director of nondestructive evaluations for Materials and Processes Engineering, developed state-of-the-art, nondestructive field management techniques that uphold the safety of military migration fleets. 

Meggan Harris, chief engineer for Military Engines, F119 program, drove validation activities for ‘usage-based lifing’ that were activated across the entire F119 fleet.

Bill Lamberti — director of software and product intelligence for Control and Diagnostic Systems, delivered on productivity goals for cost reduction while maintaining a world-class quality signature for engine control software.

Sean McCutchan, Bearing Design Fellow for Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles Engineering, demonstrated outstanding leadership to address two critical seal issues.

Brad Sammann, program chief engineer, Special Technology Programs for Military Engines Engineering, developed and deployed new techniques to enable customers to overcome significant barriers and achieve critical objectives.
