InventHelp Inventor Develops an Enhanced Shot Bolt (SDB-1278)

PR Newswire

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — “I desired a means to keep the aesthetic features on my rifle legal and not sacrifice the functionality,” said an inventor from San Diego, Calif. “This inspired me to develop a better bolt catch that would be a compromise between gun-control groups and law-abiding citizens.”

He developed the Single Shot Bolt Catch, which would prohibit the bolt of the rifle from moving forward and returning to a firing position. This would leave the chamber unloaded, requiring the operator to manually load the next round into the chamber by releasing the bolt. This invention could reclassify AR-platform rifles from “assault weapons” to rifles similar to bolt actions. The change would place the AR platform in both modern sporting and hunting.

The original design was submitted to the San Diego office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
