ORTEC, a business unit of AMETEK [AME], has introduced Micro-Detective, the newest addition to the company's family of Detective handheld nuclide identifiers. The Micro-Detective weighs 15 pounds, 40 percent less than the original Detective introduced in 2004 and 50 percent smaller. The new device meets or exceeds ANSI N32.34 radioisotope identification standards and is able to identify many new radionuclides recently adopted for use in medicine and industry. Initial shipments began in April.
