The Missile Defense Agency broke ground on its new Headquarters Command Center (HQCC) at Fort Belvoir, Va.

The new $38.5 million MDA faciity is part of the Department of Defense Base Realignment and Closure 2005 process and supports 292 employees.

The project will consist of a 99,001 square-foot, multi-story building, which includes administrative space, reception and access control center, security operations center, special security areas, special access areas, mailroom, technical library, computer operations, meeting rooms, training area, graphics and storage areas.

The building’s facade will meet Fort Belvoir design guidelines to include a brick veneer that will match historical buildings already located at the center of the post.

The Army Corps of Engineers, Baltimore District, awarded the design-build contract in August and anticipates the facility will be ready for use by September 2010.
