Lockheed Martin [LMT] late Saturday night confirmed that its information systems network had come under a cyber attack, but the company said the attack was detected quickly and that customer, program and employee data remained secure.

In a statement, the nation’s largest defense contractor said “its information security team detected the attack almost immediately, and took aggressive actions to protect all systems and data.” As a result, it said, “our systems remain secure; no customer, program or employee personal data has been compromised.”

The company it detected the attack on May 21, calling it “significant and tenacious.” During its investigation, Lockheed Martin said it has kept “appropriate” U.S. government agencies apprised of its actions and that it “continues to work around the clock to restore employee access to the network, while maintaining the highest level of security.”
