HHS Makes Awards for Biodefense Development Work

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded four contracts for the development of therapeutic agents for select biodefense pathogens, including awards to Achaogen, Inc. for $26.7 million, Emergent BioSolutions [EBS] for $24.3 million, SIGA Technologies [SIGA] for $55 million, and Trius Therapeutics for $27.7 million. Achaogen's award is for novel aminoglycoside agents for treatments of antimicrobial resistant Category A and B bacterial solutions. Emergent's contract is for further development of AVP-21D9 anthrax monoclonal antibody to scale up…
