The U.K.’s Ministry of Defence has awarded a prestigious commendation to a joint team of General Dynamics UK and MoD personnel for their achievement in the successful integration of 13,000 British Army vehicles.

The commendation was presented by Air Vice-Marshal Bob Allan OBE, the Director of Information Systems and Services, in recognition of the successful effort to deliver modern tactical communications and data capability across the U.K.’s Armed Forces.

Allan’s commendation said: “This award recognizes the team’s role in the successful completion of the installation design, certification and delivery, worldwide, of the Bowman Communications System to over 13,000 tri-service platforms (1,200 design variations in 54 vehicle types), 34 static communications sites and training to over 75,000 personnel within agreed performance, time and cost constraints. This achievement has laid the foundations for tactical battle-space digitization by providing a pan MOD secure voice combat net radio system and a versatile command information system.”

President and Managing Director of General Dynamics UK Sandy Wilson said: “As well as generating a unique pool of skills and capability in General Dynamics UK’s AFV integration team, it has showed what can be delivered by partnership between the defense industry and the MOD.”
