Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has awarded DRS Technologies a potential $100 million, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract to provide License Plate Readers (LPR) at land border ports of entry and border checkpoints. The company will supply its LPR mobile and handheld technology. DRS is the U.S. subsidiary of Italy’s Finmeccanica. Work will be carried out by the Maritime and Security Solutions unit of DRS’ DRS Technical Services division. CBP will be using the DRS LPR products for both commercial and passenger vehicles in the same lane. Elsag’s LPRs are used throughout the U.S.
