An unnamed Western European country awarded Elbit Systems [ESLT] a $20 million contract to supply tactical mobile radios in the E-LynX Software Define Radios (SDR) family, the company said April 26.

The contract is to be performed over a three-year period, Elbit said.

The E-Lynx radio provides voice, data, and video services simultaneously with integrated blue force tracking capabilities in the narrow and wide band waveforms, the company said. The radio system is based on the older Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking (MANET) capabilities and is designed to serve as the mobile networking backbone for both Battle Management Systems (BMS) and soldier systems, Elbit said.

“We are proud to supply the customer with our newest E-LynX family of SDR systems, which are based on decades of experience and proven radio products and technologies,” Yehuda (Udi) Vered, general manager of Elbit’s land & C4I division, said in a statement.

“This award is a result of our continuous efforts and investments in research and development in order to achieve modern military networking and radio capabilities,” Vered added.
