Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has appointed longtime Capitol Hill aide Robert "Rob" Soofer as deputy assistant secretary of defense for nuclear and missile defense policy, the Pentagon announced April 26.Soofer was most recently the staff lead fGround-Based Midcourse Defense (or the Senate Armed Services Committee’s (SASC) strategic forces panel, which oversees such matters as missile defense, nuclear weapons, military space systems and arms control.Soofer has worked for the Senate and the Department of Defense for a total of 30 years.…
