Adding to its expertise in supply chain and logistics management, Cubic Corp. [CUB] has agreed to acquire the supply chain management consulting firm XIO Strategies, Inc., whose president will take over Cubic’s Global Tracking Solutions business. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. XIO is a women-owned small business based in Northern Virginia and has seven employees. Mary Ann Wagner, the founder, president and CEO of XIO, will lead Cubic’s Global Tracking Solutions business from its new headquarters in Vienna, Va., allowing it to better serve its Defense Department and commercial customers. The tracking solutions business is currently based in California. Cubic wants to take advantage of Wagner’s expertise and customer relationships in the logistics management area. Wagner has more than 25 years of experience in global logistics and supply chain management, strategic planning and policy development and has held executive and sales management positions at Stanley Works and FedEx [FDX]. XIO’s expertise is in supply chain management and automatic identification technology development. Cubic formed its Tracking Solutions business last year following the acquisition of Impeva Labs to accelerate its entry into defense, homeland security and maritime logistics markets (TR2, May 26, 2010).
