CBP Plans To Add Facial Recognition To Trusted Traveler Program

Having already committed to using facial recognition technology to verify the identities of foreign nationals departing the U.S. on international flights, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) plans to add the technology to its premier trusted traveler program for participating U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents returning to the country by air, the agency’s senior official said on Wednesday.Adding facial recognition to the Global Entry program will begin in 2018 and it will replace the passport and “slow” fingerprint verification process…
