The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on Wednesday approved bills aimed at strengthening management within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and improving coordination of biodefense efforts across the executive branch.The 104-page DHS Accountability Act of 2016 (S. 2976) was approved 14-0 and calls for the creation of an Office of Strategy, Policy and Plans to be led by an under secretary to carry out department-wide policy development, implementation and strategic planning.The bill also calls for an information…
