Leading Defense Executives to Speak at Defense Daily’s Open Architecture Summit

Rockville, August 19, 2008 – Defense Daily has announced the speakers and program for the Open Architecture Summit, which will bring together strategic leaders from government and industry for insightful analysis into operational, funding and cultural issues and opportunities surrounding the open architecture debate.

The Open Architecture Summit will be held on November 18 at the Phoenix Park hotel in Washington, DC and will include speakers from the government/military, major defense contractors and small business vendors. The summit is designed to provide insight and analysis into the current challenges and opportunities facing the military and the defense industry in the new era of open architecture, including how executives expect OA policies to develop, how requirements for OA will be incorporated into contracts, and how business opportunities for small, medium and large firms will grow as the services move toward OA.

With defense budgets getting tighter, the need to find ways to upgrade legacy systems and to provide warfighters with the most up-to-date technology quicker and cheaper is vital. The armed services are looking to open architecture to help with these efforts.

Companies leading the industry with innovations in the area of open systems will share their success stories and strategies, including opening keynote Dr. David McQueeney, Vice President, Technology and Strategy, CTO, IBM Federal.  Also speaking will be representatives from General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Rockwell Collins, Lakota Technical Solutions, Progeny and SimVentions.  Representatives from the Navy, Air Force and Army will also be on hand to discuss the military’s future needs for Open Architecture systems and capabilities. The summit also includes a topic-filled keynote luncheon, sponsored by General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems.

The Defense Daily Open Architecture Summit is a highly anticipated information–packed event that is sure to sell out weeks in advance. Attendees include senior civilian and military figures involved in defense sectors, including strategists, analysts, procurement executives and influential industry leaders.  Networking decision-makers in policy initiatives, business development, sales and marketing are also expected to attend.
