The Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) last month issued a Request for Information seeking ideas from the market for architecture studies and analysis to meet the goals of the Aviation Pathways Architecture, which is to mitigate airspace and airport vulnerabilities to radiological and nuclear threats. DNDO also hopes to examine engineering and design considerations, architecture, interface requirements, and the most effective methods to enhance the Aviation Pathways Architecture and to assess preventative radiological and nuclear detection capabilities. DNDO is planning work involving international commercial aviation, including screening at overseas airports for planes bound for the U.S., international general aviation, domestic commercial aviation, including an understanding of the costs and benefits of screening domestic commercial air passengers, baggage and air cargo, and domestic general aviation.
