Raytheon [RTN] says it has added the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co.‘s (EADS) Secure Networks North America business unit to its team pursuing the Los Angeles Regional Interoperable Communications System contract. Raytheon says its team, which includes Etherstack and Powerwave Technologies, will propose an integrated wireless voice and data communications system that enables more than 34,000 Los Angeles first responders to communicate more effectively during daily operations, a natural disaster or a terrorist attack. “Our Secure Networks division brings extensive large-scale radio system deployment experience and P25 standards expertise to the Raytheon team,” says Tim Fuller, CEO of PlantCML, and EADS North America company. “The team’s approach allows Los Angeles first responders, who already have a long history of using PlantCML’s E-911 call center solutions, the flexibility to procure best value technology and avoid becoming locked into a proprietary solution.”
