Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano recently said that Deputy Secretary Jane Holl Lute will be departing the department after four years of service.

During her service at the department, Lute was the lead negotiator for the United States government in updating the U.S. and European Union Passenger Name Records Agreement, which creates a legal framework for transferring airline passenger data by airlines operating passenger flights between the EU and United States to DHS and the use of that data by the department. Lute has also led DHS efforts around cyber security.

DHS did not provide a date for Lute’s departure, although reports said she would be leaving in May.
