Cross Match Technologies has introduced a new version of its Be.U mobile biometrics device, the Be.U e-Passport that is optimized for use as border checkpoints and immigration offices. The device optically collects data from International Civil Aviation Organization standards-based e-passports, unlocking the biometric information stored on the secure RFID chips embedded in each e-passport. “By matching the stored biometric data to a scanned fingerprint image, Be.U e-Passport quickly verifies the identity of the bearer of the electronic document,” says Bill Dumont, senior vice president of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Cross Match.
