German Airport Acquires Smiths Detection EDS Systems

Smiths Detection says that Germany’s Ministry of Interior awarded the company a contract for 14 HI-SCAN 10080 XCT explosive detection systems that support the airport’s upgrade of its hold baggage screening technology to meet the European Civil Aviation Conference Standard 3. The contract includes an eight-year service agreement. The XCT systems combine high-resolution X-Ray technology, computed tomography, and advanced detection algorithms. The high-speed system can scan up to 1,800 bags per hour. The system can also be upgraded to detect future threats. Deployments will begin early this year and continue during the next four years. The value of the contract wasn’t disclosed.

USCIS Awards Salient CRGT $9M to Modernize Paper-Based Immigration Process

Salient CRGT says it has received a potential one-year, $9.2 million task order from U.S. Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) to provide modernize the agency’s paper-based immigration process through its Electronic Immigration System program. The order was made through the EAGLE II contract vehicle and includes a six-month base period and six-month option.

TSA Awards K4 Extension to Continue Providing Contact Center Support

K4 Solutions, Inc. has received an option from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to continue providing contact center services with the public and agency employees. K4 operates and manages the TSA Contact Center, which is the primary incoming portal from the public and receives inquiries from agency employees, other government organizations, Congress and the White House. Early in 2017, K4 received a potential $8.9 million contract extension from TSA to continue to provide contact center support for up to 18 months. The latest extension covers the final six months of the contract bridge. A year ago, TSA said the final option would be worth nearly $3 million.

TSA Plans Small Awards to CT Manufacturers for Testing

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says it plans to award contracts to all five manufacturers that are developing computed tomography (CT)-based scanning systems for checkpoint applications for the purposes of testing. The contracts will be for two CT systems from each vendor upon Advanced Technology-2 Tier ILL certification as required under the Qualified Products List announcement. The vendors are Analogic [ALOG], Integrated Defense & Security Solutions, L3 Technologies [LLL], ScanTech, and Smiths Detection.

CBP Awards Envisage $3M Bridge Contract for Software

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) says it has awarded Envisage Technologies a $3.4 million one-year contract bridge to continue providing software licenses, help desk, and maintenance services for ACADIS enterprise software. The software currently services 20 different academies and more than 700 locations for CBP and the Federal Protective Service. ACADIS is a law enforcement data management software used to manage legally required training for law enforcement agents. During the year of the bridge extension, CBP says it will analyze a shift to a different law enforcement training data system.
