Centauri on Wednesday said it has acquired two companies that deepen its expertise in a number of areas and bolsters its position in Dayton, Ohio, to better serve customers there.

Terms of the deals for The Domain Knowledge Company (TDKC) and PreTalen, both headquartered in Dayton, were not disclosed. Centauri, a portfolio company of Arlington Capital Partners, said that following the acquisition its annual sales are around $475 million.

Centauri, which is passed in Northern Virginia, said TDKC has key capabilities in microelectronics trust and assurance, space domain awareness, and advanced visualization for enhanced situational awareness. PreTalen’s key capabilities are in cyber warfare, navigational warfare, and positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) techniques and technologies supporting defense and offensive operations to counter adversaries.

A spokesman for Centauri told

Defense Daily in an email response to questions that the company is “really excited” about the microelectronics, space domain awareness, and PNT capabilities.

“With TDKC, we are building world-class capability to help ensure trusted microelectronics in the supply chains for the defense and intelligence communities,” Dave Dzaran, Centauri’s CEO, said in a statement. “Their expertise in space domain awareness further strengthens Centauri’s existing space-related mission capabilities focused on the next generation of solutions that will serve this rapidly-evolving domain.”

Dennis Kelly, Centauri’s president and chief operating officer, said in a statement “PreTalen’s unique skill sets relating to all aspects of PNT architecture serve as a true differentiator on their programs.”

Centauri also said it is building additional research and development labs and secure facilities in Dayton to enhance its innovation efforts and customer solutions.

The senior leadership of TDKC and PreTalen will join Centauri. The two acquired companies each had about 85 employees, raising Centauri’s employee base in Dayton to over 300. Centauri now has 1,650 employees overall.
