TSA to Host Industry Day for APSS Advanced Algorithm Enhancements
The Transportation Security Administration Office of Requirements and Capabilities Analysis will host an Industry Day on May 8 for the Accessible Property Screening Standards (APSS) Advanced Algorithm Enhancements to include machine learning for certified checkpoint computed tomography systems. The agency says that machine learning algorithms may support enhancing automated detection of explosives and prohibited items, increase passenger throughput, and improve the passenger experience. DTRA Seeks Proposals for Nuclear Detection Technologies
The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has issued a Broad Agency Announcement called New Initiatives for Nuclear Detection Technologies that is a multiyear solicitation covering 2018 through 2023. The topic areas for the current solicitation are Enabling Technologies for Nuclear Detection, Enabling Algorithms for Nuclear Threats Analysis and Mapping, Enabling Technologies for Post-Detonation Technical Nuclear Forensics, and Enabling Technologies for Monitoring and Verification of Nuclear Detonation Events. TSA Issues RFI for Designated Aviation Channeler Services
The Transportation Security Administration Office of Intelligence Analysis has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to do market research to understand potential designated aviation channeling service solutions that may have not yet been explored. TSA wants information on technical and operational capabilities that provide for a full suite of channeling services. The agency is interested in learning more about capabilities that allow for accurate data receipt and collection, identity assurance, adherence to privacy and technical security requirements. DHS Issues RFI for Next-Generation RIID
The Department of Homeland Security Office of Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for a next-generation Radiation Isotope Identification Device (RIID). The office seeks technological solutions for the next-gen devices, technological solutions for handheld scanning of containerized and non-containerized cargo entering the U.S. through ports of entry, and handheld equipment that can detect, identify and or localize illicit radiological and nuclear material in the containerized and non-containerized operational environment for both primary and secondary screening.
