The Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for commercial-off-the-shelf spectroscopic radiological/nuclear detection and identification systems, also called Human Portable Tripwire (HPT) systems, in support of A U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint concept of operations pilot. HPTs are intended to be worn by operators as standard equipment, providing a passive or “tripwire” capability for constant, non-deliberate scans to increase the operator’s ability to detect and or identify radiological and nuclear materials. Army National Guard Seeks Mass Notification Net-Centric Alerting System

The Army National Guard has issued a solicitation for seeking a technical solution to their ability to rapidly and reliably inform appropriate personnel about anti-terrorism/force protection conditions, hazardous weather conditions, and many other critical events through the use of a net-centric alerting system. The solicitation is for a small business set-aside. DTRA Issues BAA for Nuclear Threat Detection

The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has issued a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) seeking proposals to meet requirements to conduct research in nuclear weapons of mass destruction threat detection in the following areas: collecting and sensing, and information management. Under collecting and sensing, the goal is to develop innovative technologies to advance the state of the art in systems capable of detecting, locating, imaging and identifying materials, behaviors and networks related to nuclear WMD in a variety of scenarios. Under the information management topic, the goal is to develop technologies to improve the U.S. government’s capability to process, exploit, analyze and disseminate nuclear WMD-related information. DHS Issues RFI for Standoff Radiation Detectors

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Urban Security Technology Laboratory, is seeking information on commercially available standoff radiation detectors. Information submitted will be evaluated for inclusion on the DHS System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders, or SAVER, program to assist emergency responders making procurement decisions. The SAVER program conducts assessments and validations on commercial equipment and systems and provides the results along with other relevant equipment information to the emergency response community.
