*The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology branch plans to award a follow-on contract to the Georgia Tech Applied Research Corp. under the Advanced Container Security Device (ACSD) program to meet new requirements. The existing project scope includes the technology of the Container Security Device (CSD), which consists of a small, low-power sensor mounted on or within a shipping container to detect and warn of the opening or removal of container doors. The additional requirements will include the full ACSD support for all systems engineering efforts required for development of a container breech detection system, a combination of composite container panels, with integrated breech detection grids and supporting electronics. The ultimate goal of this new contract will be to integrate the existing CSD system with the ACSD system that can be marketed to industry.

*Science Applications International Corp. [SAI] has completed its acquisition of Reveal Imaging Technologies, giving it a key product in for detecting explosives in checked bags at small and medium-size airports. Reveal’s CT-80 explosives detection system is certified by the Transportation Security Administration and is in use at airports in the U.S. and internationally.

*Lockheed Martin [LMT] has relocated the headquarters of its Savi Technology business unit to Alexandria, Va., to be closer to its public sector and commercial customers. Savi, which makes wireless sensors and networks to monitor and help secure supply chain assets, was previously based in California. The California facility is being transformed into the company’s Innovation Lab to develop customer-centric solutions. Savi’s support functions such as finance, human resources and legal will remain in California.
