CoorsTek yesterday said it has acquired the advanced ceramic facilities of Britain’s BAE Systems‘ California-based Vista unit, giving the company additional manufacturing space for technical ceramics.

CoorsTek paid $7 million for Vista. The unit has 105 employees, 106,000 square feet of manufacturing space, and develops and fabricates lightweight ceramic armor systems, semiconductor components and assemblies, and industrial components.

Vista also manufactures various advanced ceramic materials.

“With this acquisition, CoorsTek will serve our customers more effectively by offering expanded material options across all markets,” John Coors, chairman, president and CEO of CoorsTek, said in a statement.

CoorsTek, the world’s largest technical ceramics manufacturer, supplies components and assemblies for defense, aerospace and various other industrial markets. The acquisition of Vista adds to CoorsTek’s more than three million square feet of manufacturing floor space worldwide.

Rothschild, Inc., served as BAE’s financial advisor on the deal.
