Paravision Tops in Latest NIST Facial Recognition Vendor Test 1:N Report
Computer vision technology company Paravision
says its face recognition algorithm has been ranked number one in the latest National Institute of Standards and Technology Facial Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT) one-to-many (1:N) report in January. The testing shows the company’s upcoming 5th generation face recognition technology shows a 70 percent reduction in error rates compared to the company’s previous submission. The NIST report shows Paravision’s algorithm coming out just ahead of algorithms submitted by SenseTime, NEC, VisionLabs and IDEMIA for the false negative identification rate. In a Visa/Border test, Paravision says its algorithm’s error rate is 18 percent lower than the second-ranked vendor, delivering a false negative identification rate of 0.22 percent at a false positive identification rate of 0.3 percent across a dataset of 1.6 million images.
Hindu Temple to Test Liberty Defense’s HEXWAVE Body Scanner
Liberty Defense says that it has signed a collaboration agreement with a Hindu organization to beta test the company’s HEXWAVE automated threat detection walk-through body scanner at a temple near Atlanta. The testing is part of HEXWAVE’s development process. “Places of worship are a key customer segment for Liberty Defense, and we look forward to working alongside one of the largest Hindu temples in the United States to understand the challenges of providing better detection while maintaining a welcoming environment for its members,” says Bill Frain, Liberty’s CEO. “Visitors and worshippers should not have to worry about safety and security, and we plan to work closely with the temple’s security operations to make sure that is the case.” HEXWAVE uses 3D imaging and artificial intelligence to detect metallic and non-metallic concealed threats on persons.
