The Army awarded Support Systems Associates Inc. (SSAI) with its major subcontractor BAE Systems, and Science Engineering Service Inc. (SES-I) the Logistics Support Facilities Management Activity (LSFMA) contract, a multiple award Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a ceiling value up to $1.5 billion over five years.

SSAI and SESI were successful in the competition that attracted five bidders. The two awardees will compete against each other for work within the LSFMA contract.

“SSAI is very pleased to be a prime contractor for Logistics Support Facilities,” said Michael Reynolds, SSAI vice president of Business Development.  “We are committed to customer satisfaction and look forward to working with the U.S. Army, LSFMA, BAE Systems and all of our teammates, current and future, to ensure a successful program. SSAI is excited to establish a presence in Huntsville, Ala., supporting the Redstone Arsenal.

SSAI has teamed with BAE and others to provide a flexible, timely, and cost-effective team with the facilities, personnel, and expertise to support the aircraft modifications and other support and services included under the contract, the companies said in a statement. SSAI is establishing relationships with other Huntsville-based subcontractors required to support performance of issued task orders.

“BAE Systems has shown our commitment to this contract by making investments specific to the contract’s performance last year in Albertville and Huntsville,” said Floyd McConnell, BAE vice president of Integrated Aviation Solutions. “We look forward to partnering with SSAI to support the U.S. Army’s aviation mission, which will increase employment in the local communities.”

This five-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract includes a full range of services across aviation platforms supported by the Program Executive Office (PEO) Aviation, Army Materiel Command (AMC)/Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) including engineering development of aircraft modifications, application of modifications to the aircraft fleet, logistics support of systems and aircraft and more. In addition, services will be performed on aviation platforms operated by other U.S. government agencies and some Foreign Military Sales (FMS) countries.

The work will be performed by SSAI and BAE Systems personnel in SSAI’s new facility to be opened in Huntsville as well as the BAE hangar in Albertville, Ala. and offices in Huntsville.
