Smiths Detection has introduced a new toolkit that includes four complementary screening technologies that can be used by emergency response personnel for rapidly identifying biological warfare agents in the field. The BIO-ACT consists of the PrimeAlert microbe and toxin screener, the BioCheck protein and pH test kit, the handheld HazMatID Ranger chemical identifier, and the Bio-Seeq PLUS handheld biological warfare agent identifier. BIO-ACT will help responders assess unknown powder scares for anthrax, ricin, plague, pan orthopox and other biological warfare agents. “BIO-ACT strongly reinforces our position as a total solutions provider for quick and accurate biological threat assessment,” says Mal Maginnis, president, Global Military and Emergency Responders for Smiths Detection. “This is critical because no single test is enough when you are dealing with a potential BWA.”
