Sarnoff Corp. and Unisys [UIS] last week conducted a demonstration of a mock airport security access control process at the Biometrics Consortium Conference using iris scanning and electronic boarding passes. Participants at the conference registered at the Unisys booth and received their “boarding pass” sent to their mobile phone or PDA. Then at the Sarnoff booth they had their mobile boarding pass and iris scanned to verify their identity. For the demonstration Sarnoff’s Iris on the Move system was used to capture the iris image of subjects as they walk through the system at a standard pace, allowing the verification of the identities of up to 30 people per minute. Sarnoff says its Iris on the Move system is deployed in several secure government facilities, private corporations, seaports and airports.
