OSI Systems [OSIS] has received $56.2 million in orders from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Abu Dhabi customs for various cargo, baggage and aviation security screening equipment. The largest order, worth $29 million, is from CBP for multiple Eagle Mobile and GaRDS portal cargo and vehicle imaging systems for use at air and seaports of entry. A separate $17.2 million order from CBP using Recovery Act funding is for the purchase of Mobile X-Ray inspection vans. CBP has awarded OSI an initial $2.8 million task order under this indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity award. The $10 million order from Abu Dhabi, which follows a previous award from that country, includes cargo, baggage and aviation security equipment. OSI declined to list the specific equipment in the order. The company says that the new contract will provide flexible screening systems to meet Abu Dhabi’s mobile inspection, air cargo screening and baggage scanning requirements. OSI says that its scanning systems will be deployed at the Al Ain and Abu Dhabi airports, a seaport at Mussafah, major post offices, and a number of border customs centers. The systems will be used to detect concealed security threats, contraband and smuggled items.
