Northrop Grumman [NOC] has received a $17.6 million task order from the Air Force under the Network Centric Solutions contract to integrate Phase II of the Host Based Security System (HBSS) 3.0, which is a security upgrade to the Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet). Northrop Grumman and its partner McAfee, Inc. [MFE], will deploy HBSS 3.0 to 263 active duty Air Force bases and Air National Guard sites around the world. Under Phase II, Northrop Grumman will plan, design, integrate, test, configure, train, document and deploy HBSS 3.0 to better protect data over the SIPRNet. McAfee’s Host Intrusion Prevention System is the underlying technology for the HBSS solution. HBSS monitors, detects and counters known cyber-threats to the Defense Department’s enterprise architecture.
