Navy Space and Warfare Systems (SPAWAR) Program Office PMW 770 has changed its name from Submarine Integration Program Office to Undersea Integration Program Office.
The tactical change, which went into effect Dec. 1, is expected to improve the alignment of innovative efforts and resources with the Chief of Naval Operations’ vision and warfighting priorities and remove barriers that would inhibit the program executive’s ability to deploy improved capabilities to warfighters.
“The Undersea Integration Program Office will be the first program office to deliver Information Dominance architecture to a wide range of undersea systems and sensors–both manned and unmanned,” said Capt. Dean Richter, PMW 770 program manager. “The Navy as a whole is changing, and Team SPAWAR is taking a synergistic approach in achieving the CNO’s vision of Information Dominance.”
Undersea Integration Program Office (PMW 770) will deliver a vital capability to the Navy in the future by connecting the entire undersea environment, the sea service office said in a statement.
The name change supports the office’s ability to work on connecting an entire undersea architecture of manned, unmanned systems, and undersea vehicles.
PMW 770 also supports the information dominance strategy by aligning and delivering the entire portfolio of undersea capability to the Navy. The program office aligns directly to officers and staff (OPNAV) N2, N6, and the undersea information dominance road map in which PMW 770 delivers all communications capabilities from near- to long-term. As the Navy moves toward unmanned systems, PMW 770 is assisting in delivering an unmanned architecture to the Navy.
On Dec. 10, the Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEO C4I) Rear Adm. Jerry Burroughs will hold a change of command for PMW 770 at SPAWAR Headquarters in San Diego. Capt. Miguel San Pedro will relieve Capt. Dean Richter as program manager. Richter will be recognized for his leadership in the delivery of C4I systems to submarines and ashore broadcast facilities, as well as connecting the undersea environment. San Pedro has been officer-in-charge of SPAWAR Systems Activity Pacific in Hawaii.
