The Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technology Division is seeking commercial off-the-shelf colorimetric or explosive detection equipment (EDE) requiring visual interpretation by the operator although interpretation of resulting colors or changes can be automated or performed by the operator. The EDE needs to be capable of determining the presence of explosives in improvised explosive devices (IED) that are contained in mail, parcels, cargo, vehicles and on personnel. Technologies for IED detection that protect the force and prevent terrorist bombings against military personnel, equipment and military installations by finding them at points of entry are sought. The Navy plans to test technologically mature and market ready equipment. Sol. No. N4279408SS016. Respond by Aug. 8. Contact: Jim Knesel, 301-744-6886, james.e.knesel@navy.mil.
