Northrop Grumman [NOC] has teamed up with ITT Exelis [XLS] in the competition for the Navy’s Next Generation Jammer for fielding on EA-18G Growlers, the electronic attack version of the Boeing [BA]-built F/A-18 Super Hornets, the companies recently announced.

The NJG program, also known as Next Gen Jammer, is intended to develop the most advanced jamming technology to engage in electronic attack. ITT Exelis was partnered with Boeing, but the two firms decided to assume separate roles in April.

Other companies pursuing Next Gen Jammer are BAE Systems, Boeing and Raytheon [RTN].
