The five unions that make up the workforce at Huntington Ingalls Industries’ [HII] Ingalls Shipbuilding division have signed off on an extension to the collective bargaining agreement.
HII said last week the three-year extension includes two annual 60-cent raises, the first coming in January, and a 70-cent raise in the third year of the contract. The contract also includes a rise in health care premium costs. Employees on the payroll as of Dec. 23 will receive a $1,000 bonus.
The five unions are the Pascagoula Metal Trades Council and local chapters of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, International Association of Machinists, United Federation of Special Police and Security Officers and Office and Professional Employees International Union.
“This collaboration between management and labor is another example of how we continue to work together to ensure we provide the best opportunities for our shipbuilders and at the same time position our shipyards to compete for future contracts,” said Edmond Hughes, the vice president of human resources and administration at Ingalls Shipbuilding.
Based in Pascagoula, Miss., the Ingalls division of HII builds Arleigh Burke-class destroyers (DDG-51) for the Navy and Marine Corps amphibious ships.
