J. Gregory Meyer, formerly head of the Babcock & Wilcox unit that operates the Energy Department’s Pantex plant, last week was named senior vice president of Fluor‘s [FLR] government group and will lead the company’s environmental/nuclear business line.

Meyer, who oversaw operations at the Texas nuclear warhead assembly plant as president and general manager of B&W Pantex Technical Services, will be in charge of Fluor’s contractor operations for the Energy Department; the National Nuclear Security Administration, DoE’s semi-autonomous nuclear weapons agency; and the United Kingdom’s Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

Meyer will be based in Fluor’s Arlington, Va., office and will report to Bruce Stanski, president of the Fluor Government Group.

Meyer left Pantex earlier this March after serving roughly two years at its helm. He replaced Dan Swaim as head of B&W Pantex in April 2008.

He also has worked at several other DoE sites, including Hanford, Rocky Flats and the Savannah River Site in South Carolina, where Fluor is a major cleanup contractor.

He also served more than 20 years in the Navy.
