NASHVILLE, Tenn.—MD Helicopters Inc. (MDHI) yesterday said it received a $7.6-million Foreign Military Sales contract to provide three MD 500E single engine turbine helicopters to the Salvadorian air force, Fuerza Aerea Salvadorena (FAS). 

The first aircraft will be delivered during the third quarter, ahead of schedule. The contract provides for training, spares, ground support equipment and special tools. The aircraft will be used in a utility role. FAS now operates four MD 500E helicopters.

The Dec. 9 FMS contract is managed by the Army Non Standard Rotary Wing Aircraft Project Office for FAS.
