Northrop Starts STEM Program. The Northrop Grumman Foundation is collaborating with Conservation International to provide middle school and high school math or science teachers with learning opportunities in environmental science. The program, called “Eco Classroom,” sends 16 teachers to Costa Rica for an all-expenses-paid, two-week field experience during July 2012. Among the goals of the program is equipping teachers to inspire students to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics careers. Northrop Grumman CEO Wes Bush says conservation is an extremely important part of global security due to the effects of resource scarcity. “We believe there is a direct connection between international conservation and America’s economic and national security interests,” he says at a press conference in downtown Washington. Northrop Grumman Vice President for Corporate Responsibility Sandra Evers-Manly says the company is investing $2 million into this three-year partnership.
