Northrop Grumman said Wednesday it is providing its Scalable Node Architecture (SNA) Software Development Kit (SDK) to second-and third-party defense product and services firms interesting in participating in the company’s defense programs.
The initiative arose from Northrop Grumman’s hosting earlier this year of an industry day for smaller firms wanting to join Northrop Grumman’s bid for the Navy’s new Air Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) that will be installed on ships.
“While the focal point was the AMDR program, the event also served to encourage dialogue among attendees about how to participate in an open-architecture environment on other Department of Defense programs at Northrop Grumman,” the company said.
The Navy is expected to award the AMDR contract this summer. Lockheed Martin [LMT] and Raytheon [RTN] have also submitted bids.
