The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice last month signed the Preventing and Combating Serious Crime accord allowing for the trade of biometric and biographic data between the U.S. and the Netherlands. Under the agreement the two countries will share law enforcement data, including fingerprints, to improve identification of known terrorists and criminals during investigations and other law enforcement activities. “This agreement will strengthen our international efforts to combat transnational crime will facilitating lawful trade and travel between our two nations,” says Deputy DHS Secretary Jane Holl Lute. The U.S. has similar agreements with 17 international partners.
