DRS Nabs Potential $200M Award to Continue Coast Guard C-130 Maintenance
The Coast Guard has awarded DRS Technologies a potential five-year, $200 million contract to continue the maintenance, repair and overhaul work on C-130 aircraft at the service’s Aviation Logistics Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. DRS, the U.S.-based division of Italy’s Finmeccanica, has been servicing the Coast Guard’s C-130 fleet at its Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility in Elizabeth City for more than three years.
Harris Nabs $45M ICE Tactical Tactical Communications Support Award
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has awarded Harris Corp. [HRS] a $45 million to provide round-the-clock technical support for the front line tactical communications operations of 15,000 law enforcement officers. Harris and its team, which includes CSC [CSC] on other subcontractors, will support the agency’s existing tactical communications networks at multiple locations in the continental U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The contract was made through the five-year, $3 billion Department of Homeland Security Tactical Communications indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract vehicle. “Harris and its teammates will sustain legacy systems and provide cost-effective, interoperable services for those who depend on reliable communications,” says Wayne Lucernoni, president of Harris IT Services.
FLIR Receives $23M Coast Guard Order for E-O Sensors
FLIR Systems, Inc. [FLIR] has received a $23 million order from the Coast Guard to supply its Talon 9-inch stabilized electro-optical sensor system configuration for installation on the service’s H-60 and H-65 helicopters. Shipments are expected to be completed by the end of 2013.
iRobot Nabs Small Award to Provide PackBots to Brazil
iRobot Corp. [IRBT] has received contracts totaling $7.2 million from the Brazilian government to provide the iRobot 510 PackBot robots, spares and associated equipment through December. “iRobot continues its international expansion, and Brazil represents an important market for the company’s unmanned ground vehicles,” says Frank Wilson, senior vice president and general manager of iRobot’s Defense & Security business unit. “iRobot is excited to be providing the company’s state-of-the-art robotic technologies to Brazil as the country prepares for several high profile international events, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup.” The PackBot has served in Iraq and Afghanistan and was one of the first robots to enter the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant after the 2011 tsunami that struck Japan.
First Coast Wins Potential $37M Security Officer Award from DHS
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Protective Service has awarded First Coast Security Solutions a potential $36.5 million contract to provide armed protective security services at a number of federal facilities in Washington, D.C. The contract includes a base year, four one-year options and a six-month option.
