DTRA Awards Leidos Potential $170M for Chem/Bio Support

The Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has awarded Leidos [LDOS] a potential $170.2 million contract under the Cooperative Biological Engagement Program (CBEP) Scientific and Technical Engagement Partnership (STEP). The initial award is for $35.9 million. The objective of the contract is to advance the CBEP mission of threat reduction by improving human capabilities of partner countries to safely and securely conduct biosurveillance and research on pathogens of security concern, and aiding in the development and implementation of partner countries’ research programs focused on increasing knowledge related to pathogens of security concern. Leidos will establish a robust pool of academic and technical resources to cost-effectively meet the dynamic need for visiting scientists, scientific mentors, qualified trainers, research collaborators, and subject matter experts.

FLIR Nabs $50M Coast Guard Navigation Contract

The Coast Guard has awarded FLIR Systems [FLIR] a potential 10-year $50 million contract to refresh the legacy Scalable Integrated Navigation System (SINS) used on the service’s small boats. The indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity SINS-2 contract has a five-year base period and a five-year option. The Coast Guard procured legacy SINS in 2002 and the original components have significantly exceeded their life expectancy. SINS-2 consists of a suite of commercially available electronic equipment and sensors consisting of low power radar/chart plotter, multi-function displays, single frequency global positioning system, and other required navigation components. The system serves as the primary means of navigation on all Coast Guard small boats and as a backup navigation system on its cutters. More than 2,000 Coast Guard vessels will be outfitted with SINS-2. Initial prototyping is expected this summer.

TSA Awards Leidos $46M for National Hazardous Materials Services

Leidos [LDOS] has received a potential five-year $45.7 million contract from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to provide National Hazardous Materials Management and Disposal Services. Under the contract Leidos will provide environmental management services to TSA field offices nationwide, which basically consists of ridding hazardous items disposed of by passengers at airport security checkpoints.

Parsons Wins DTRA Task Order for Second Increment of Lebanon Border Project

Parsons has received a competitively bid task order by the Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) for the second increment of the Lebanon Border Security Project. The value of the task order wasn’t disclosed. The award builds on the company’s current Increment I project to improve the Lebanese Armed Forces with capabilities to deter, detect, and interdict weapons of mass destruction and related materials along the country’s more than 200-mile border with Syria. Increment I was awarded in Nov. 2015. Increment II focuses on border surveillance for land border regiments, delivering new equipment, network integration of border security surveillance equipment, training on equipment and ways to enhance C4ISR, and detection and interdiction of weapons of mass destruction. The task order was awarded under DTRA’s Cooperative Threat Reduction Integration Contract (CTRIC) II. Parsons has worked on for DTRA for two decades including in Russia, Armenia, Georgia, Jordan, Libya, Ukraine, Lebanon, and off the coast of Syria. The company has also performed border security projects in Armenia, Jordan and Georgia under CTRIC II.

SRC Nabs $65M Army Contract for Counter UAS Technology

The Army has awarded SRC, Inc. a $65 million contract to provide the service with an integrated counter-unmanned aircraft system (UAS) to meet an urgent requirement to detect and defeat drones. DRS is teamed with SRC.

Army Awards Integral Consulting $10M Extension for Biometric Support Services

The Army Intelligence & Security Command has awarded Integral Consulting Services a potential $10 million increase to the firm’s contract to continue providing analytical support under the Biometrics Intelligence Program that supports warfighters in Iraq and Afghanistan. The award increases the ceiling value of the contract to $74.6 million. The contract expires this September and the Army hopes to award a new contract by then under a competitive bidding process. Integral supports the National Ground Intelligence Center’s Identity Intelligence division, which has received unexpected requirements to support ongoing war efforts with additional biometric intelligence, including reachback support and watchlist management functions. Integral won its original contract in Sept. 2012.  

DHS Awards Omniplex World Services $81M for Guard Services

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded Omniplex World Services Corp. a potential five-year $81.3 million to provide Protective Security Officer services for the Nebraska Avenue Complex in Washington, D.C. The award has one-year base period and four one-year options. The procurement was conducted under the auspices of the Office of Chief Procurement Officer Procurement Innovation Lab.

TSA AT-2 Evaluation Contracts to Rapiscan, Smiths

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded contracts to OSI Systems [OSIS] Rapiscan Systems division and Smiths Detection for the company’s respective Advanced Technology-2 X-Ray systems deployed at U.S. airports to screen carry-on bags at passenger checkpoints. The award values were not disclosed. Under their respective contracts, each company will analyze and evaluate the currently fielded AT-2 systems against and emerging threat, and provide and assessment of the operational performance of original equipment manufacturer developed Tier II software.

DISA Awards RedSeal $34M for Network Modeling and Risk Scoring

The Pentagon’s Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) has awarded RedSeal a $33.8 million multi-year contract to use its network modeling and risk scoring platform to model and continuously monitor the Joint Regional Security Stacks. DISA plans for the RedSeal services to provide visibility into network segmentation and measure overall resiliency to deliver risk-based situational awareness. The JRSS is a set of equipment to upgrade a secure, consolidated and collaborative Joint Information Environment across the Defense Department. JRSS tools perform firewall functions, intrusion detection and prevention, enterprise management, virtual routing and forwarding to provide network security capabilities.
