Engility Wins Potential $90M TSA Contract to Support Screening Processes

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has awarded Engility [EGL] a potential five-year, $90 million contract to perform testing and evaluation on the agency’s information technology systems and security screening processes and equipment. The award has a one-year base period and four one-year options. Engility is the incumbent contractor for the work, which was originally done by TASC before it was acquired by Engility. The company will conduct test planning, test execution, data management and data analysis to support TSA. “This award reflects our superior technical approach and our proven performance in support of TSA’s mission to protect our nation’s transportation system and the traveling public,” says Lynn Dugle, Engility’s CEO.

TSA Awards L-3 $38M in Task Orders for EDS Systems

L-3 Communications [LLL] has received two task orders totaling $38 million from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to supply, install and integrated medium-speed explosives detection systems (EDS) for checked baggage screening at airports. The task orders were awarded under an existing $53.6 million contract the agency awarded L-3 in February using FY ’16 funding. The largest task order, which is for $37.5 million, is for the procurement of eXaminer 3DX 6700 medium-speed EDS and eXaminer 3DX-ES medium-speed EDS. The company also received a $493,035 task order for the installation, integration and networking of EDS at Baltimore Washington International Airport.

AS&E Receives Middle East Order to Upgrade ZBVs with Tx-View

American Science and Engineering [ASEI] has received an order from a government agency in the Middle East to upgrade its fleet of AS&E Z Backscatter Vans with its Tx-View system, which provides simultaneous dual-energy transmission imaging to complement the ZBV systems’ backscatter imaging for enhanced detection of metallic threats. The upgraded ZBV systems will be used in counterterrorism applications to secure high-threat checkpoints, facilities, and high-profile events, AS&E says. AS&E says the Tx-View option provides enhanced detection of weapons and metallic vehicle borne improvised explosive device components. “The Tx-View option enhances the ZBV system’s detection capabilities for vehicle-borne IEDs, weapons, and artillery shells, expanding the application reach for military and counterterrorism applications,” says Chuck Dougherty, AS&E’s president and CEO.

Navy Awards CrossResolve $17M for Biometrics R&D

The Naval Air Systems Command has awarded West Virginia-based CrossResolve, LLC, a $17.2 million contract for basic and applied research of biometric identity operations in support of the Navy Special Surveillance Program. The contract includes advanced contactless/stand-off biometric face, finger, and iris technologies, data analytic tools, and established communication channels. Work will be completed in April 2019.

Rapiscan Wins Canadian Contracts for Port and Border Security

OSI Systems [OSIS] says its Rapiscan Systems division has received multiple contracts from government and commercial agencies in Canada for screening technology at land and sea borders. The company will provide its Eagle G60 6 MV imaging system for seaport cargo screening, its 620DV X-Ray system for aviation carry-on parcel screening, and its 620DV and 628DV X-Ray systems for cruise ship passenger baggage screening.

GrammaTech Receives DoD, DHS Cyber Security Research Contracts

GrammaTech says it has received five research contracts from the Defense and Homeland Security Departments to advance techniques and technologies in static analysis and software protection. The company says it research teams will continue their focus on solving the most challenging issues impacting embedded device software. GrammaTech says the contracts will augment its commercial software, CodeSonar, which finds bugs, security vulnerabilities, and complex programming defects in software. The value of the awards wasn’t disclosed.
