DARPA Seeks Information on Low Cost, High Performance Rad Detection
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has issued a Request for Information seeking innovative ideas that may support a potential new program designed to provide novel approaches to low cost, high efficiency, packaged radiation detectors for identifying hidden threats ranging from special nuclear materials to radiological sources. Specific topics that DARPA is interested in include: compact radiation detectors; low-cost large volume/area, high efficiency detectors; and piggy-back detector concepts. Sol. No. DARPA-SN-1-47. DoE Plans Assessments of X-Ray Systems, Robots for Emergency Response
The Department of Energy says its contractor National Security Technologies, LLC, will conduct assessments of robots for response to vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED) and other emergencies, and X-Ray systems for IED and other emergency response applications. At the request of the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, the NSTec Remote Sensing Laboratory will conduct an operational assessment of commercial off-the-shelf robots involving a variety of vehicle targets. The X-Ray systems will be also be evaluated against various targets, including grenades, pipe bombs, suicide devices and vehicle bombs. Robot assessment Sol. DTRA Seeks Support for Information Analysis Center
The Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) has issued a solicitation for services to operate the Defense Threat Reduction Information Analysis Center (DTRIAC) in Kirtland AFB, N.M. DTRA is seeking to expand the roles and responsibilities of responding firms to include more of an emphasis on analytical capabilities and resident expertise. DTRIAC manages a vast collection of unclassified and classified knowledge bases and promotes the use of existing scientific and technical information to meet DoD research, development, test, evaluation, training, mission rehearsal and operational requirements. The center provides a Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) knowledge base and information analysis capability to support DTRA and serves the broader WWMD community of interest. Congressional Budget Office Seeks Cyber Security Monitoring Services
The Congressional Budget Office is seeking a contractor to provide services in support of information security and cyber security for monitoring of security-related incidents. The contractor shall provide information security engineers to assist the CBO Cyber Security team with monitoring cyber system to include Security Event Information Manager, full packet capture system, data loss system, network behavioral analysis, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, memory capture systems, and other cyber-related products as needed.
