DHS Plans Small Vendor Outreach Session in June
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, will host a vendor outreach session on June 17 in Washington, D.C. The outreach sessions are a series of pre-arranged 15 minute appointments with small business specialists from various components of the DHS procurement offices. The sessions provide the small business community an opportunity to discuss their capabilities and learn of potential procurement opportunities. Prime contractor small business liaisons from several large businesses that have contracts with DHS will also be in attendance. DHS Releases Preliminary Info on Plans to Recompete PACTS
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has posted preliminary information on its plans to recompete the Program Management, Administrative, Clerical and Technical Services (PACTS) contract vehicle. The department says it is in the early stages of planning and that the information it is posting is subject to change without notice. The current PACTS program expires in Aug. 2014. So fare more than 140 task orders have been issued worth about $900 million. As with PACTS I, PACTS II will be a set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. CBP Issues RFI for Coastal Interceptor Vessel
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to gauge industry interest and experience to manufacture a Coastal Interceptor Vessel (CIV) from contract level design drawings. The law enforcement vessel will be operated in littoral waters and offshore areas of the U.S. and its territories in varying sea and weather conditions while providing the Marine Interdiction Agents a safe working platform to perform their duties and missions, which include patrol, interdiction, special operations, and port security support. CBP Surveying Market for IFT and MSS Support Services
Even as it continues to review bids for fixed surveillance towers along a stretch of border in the southwest U.S., Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is thinking ahead, conducting a market survey for maintenance and support services for the Block I Integrated Fixed Sensor Tower (IFST) Systems and Mobile Surveillance Systems (MSS). The nature of the competition has not been determined and it may be full and open, set aside in part, or all, for small businesses. DHS Lab Seeks Info on Walk-Through Metal Detectors
The Department of Homeland Security, National Urban Security Technology Laboratory, is seeking information on commercially available walk-through metal detectors for personnel screening. The lab is interested in systems, both fixed and portable for indoor and or outdoor use, used for security and access control in buildings, airports and events. Information collected will be published in a market survey of commercially available products by the System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders Program, which assists emergency responders in making procurement decisions.
