TSA Plans Industry Day for Electronic Baggage Screening Program

The Transportation Security Administration will hold an Industry Day on Aug. 13 for the Electronic Baggage Screening Program (EBSP) Competitive Procurement 2. The agency says it will use the day to communicate its roadmap and capabilities expectations, new explosive detection system classification system with the refined requirements and milestones for the EBSP Qualified Products List. TSA Issues RFP for Reduced Size Explosive Detection System

The Transportation Security Administration has issued a Request for Proposal for the procurement and installation of reduced size explosive detection systems (RSEDS) at multiple airport locations. The agency has a requirement for a base quantity of 34 RSEDS with an option for 25 more. TSA expects the systems to have a 15-year minimum lifespan. DHS S&T Offers Grant Opportunity for Vehicle Inspection for Early Warning

The Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate has released a grant opportunity for Vehicle Inspection and Early Warning (VIEW), an initiative for automated under vehicle inspection systems for checkpoints related to force protection, scanning, detection, border protection, and critical infrastructure key resources. The goal of VIEW is to develop a low-cost, automated, under-vehicle inspection system—both fixed and mobile—for roadway mounting at facility access points, road border crossing locations, checkpoints and other vehicle inspection vulnerabilities locations for early warning. SOCOM Plans Event for Next-Gen Identification and Awareness Technologies

U.S. Special Operations Command is planning a capability collaboration event related to technologies and capabilities for next-generation identification and awareness. SOFWERX, a partnership intermediary agreement between SOCOM and the Doolittle Institute, will has the event on Sept. 5-6. The event will consist of SOCOM warfighter presented problem statements, briefings and a facilitated design thinking session to more clearly identify potential solutions and capabilities.  SOCOM is seeking information from industry on approaches, products, and or services to support their interests in next-generation identification awareness capabilities, which are considered to be the integration of standoff biometrics, technical sensors, and advanced data architecture and analytics to complement traditional intelligence capabilities traditional intelligence capabilities to enable identification in near-peer, sensitive, and less permissive environments. DHS Plans 2018 Strategic Industry Conversation Event

The Department of Homeland Security plans to host its annual Strategic Industry Conversation this October in the Washington, D.C. area. The department says the event will take place either Oct. 16, 24 or 25.
