Boeing [BA] has received a contract from the Air Force to upgrade the visual systems in the F-15C mission training centers, the company said yesterday.

The 12 training centers will be equipped with the Constant Resolution Visual System (CRVS), which Boeing said is the centerpiece of the suite and provides 360 degrees of immersive training. It comes at a lower cost and uses standard, off-the-shelf projectors to take advantage of the improving technology in the commercial marketplace.

“A key feature of the CRVS is the ability to train with the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System and night vision goggles, both of which will be used in the F-15C” mission training centers, said Mark McGraw, Boeing vice president for Training Systems & Services.

Installation of the new visual systems in 12 locations will begin in October 2012 and will be completed by January 2013, when the training is scheduled to start, Boeing said.
